openSUSE 12.2 リリース情報 edit
openSUSE 12.2 は 2014 年 1 月 15 日にサポートを終了しています。最新版については openSUSE ディストリビューションを参照して下さい。
2012年9月5日、openSUSE 12.2 がリリースされました。 最新版となるこの版では、フリーソフトウェアの最上の成果が、安定していて完成されたお馴染みの openSUSE パッケージとして提供されています。
フィーチャーハイライト edit
openSUSE は Linux ディストリビューションテクノロジの最新にして熟成された成果物を採用しました。12.2 では GRUB2 ブートローダ がデフォルトとなり、バイナリは /usr/bin に配置されるようになっています。さらにブート中、シャットダウン中は Plymouth 0.8.6.1 によりちらつき無く画面が遷移し、魅力的なアニメーションが提供されます。
XOrg 1.12 では、マルチタッチ入力デバイスとマルチシート配置（訳注 中央サーバーにシンクライアントを接続）のサポートが導入されました。Mozilla Firefox 14 は最新のウェブテクノロジをサポートします。llvmpipe ソフトウェア 3D レンダラは、 ハードウェア3Dサポートが無くても Gnome Shell と仮想マシンでコンポジッティングを使うことを可能にします。 GIMP 2.8 と Krita 2.4 を使えば、対抗馬となる商用ツールを使わずとも自由な画像編集と自然なメディアペインティングができるでしょう。Tomahawk Player は、コンピュータで音楽を聴くことがソーシャルエクスペリエンスとなることを約束します。
LibreOffice 3.5 は、多くの新機能と改善により自由なオフィススイート体験を刷新し続けています。KDE 4.8.4 の電子メールとカレンダーアプリケーションは安定性が向上しました。また次世代の Btrfs ファイルシステム ではエラー処理が改善され、復旧ツールも備わるようになりました。
3.4 カーネルでは、プロセスの全グループに渡って CPU 使用率を制限できるようになりました。systemd の新バージョンでは、コントロール下のサービスを監視するためのウォッチドッグ機能、さらに新しいプロセス管理ツールが提供されています。システム管理者であれば、新たなデジタルフォレンジック/インシデントレスポンスツールスイートの恩恵を享受することができるでしょう。
重量級の科学ツールセットにより、数値計算、製図、視覚化といった数学アプリケーションが openSUSE でも使えるようになっています。天体シミュレータの Stellarium で、望遠鏡なしでも夜空を見渡すことができるでしょう。プログラマの皆さんには、Google の Go 言語のバージョン 1.0.2、更に最新の C++ 言語が実装された GCC 4.7.1、Qt Creator 2.5 などもお楽しみいただけることでしょう。.
